Information we collect
To provide DownTo, we collect information you choose to provide, including your name, email address, account information, profile details, friend relationships, Moves you create or join, attendance status, direct messages, support requests, reports you submit, users you block, and the places you select for activities. When content or conduct is reported or a user is blocked, we may collect the relevant content, account identifiers, report reason, timestamps, and surrounding context needed to investigate the concern. We also collect limited device, diagnostic, and usage information to help operate, secure, and improve the app.
Authentication
You can sign in to DownTo using Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In. We receive basic account information from your chosen authentication provider, such as your name, email address, and unique account identifier, in accordance with their privacy policies.
How we use your information
- Create and manage your account.
- Show your Moves, circle activity, attendance, and direct messages.
- Send important notifications related to your account and activities.
- Respond to support requests and review reports of objectionable content or abusive conduct.
- Filter and moderate content, enforce our Terms, remove violating content, and suspend or terminate offending accounts.
- Improve app performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Protect DownTo and its users from abuse, spam, fraud, and unauthorized access.
Reports, blocks, and moderation
When you report content or a user, the report and associated content and account information are sent to DownTo for moderation review. When you block a user, the block immediately removes that user's content from your feed and also notifies DownTo so we can review the associated account and relevant content. Authorized personnel may review this information to investigate the concern, protect users, enforce our Terms, and determine whether content should be removed or an account should be suspended or terminated. We do not tell the reported or blocked user who submitted the report or block, except when disclosure is required by law.
Analytics
We collect limited analytics about how DownTo is used, such as feature usage, app performance, and crashes. This information helps us understand how the app is being used and improve future versions. Analytics are never sold or used for third-party advertising.
How your information is stored
DownTo uses Google's Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Firebase Cloud Messaging, and Firebase Analytics, to provide core functionality. Information is stored using Firebase's secure cloud infrastructure and protected using industry-standard security measures.
Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. Your information is shared only with trusted service providers necessary to operate DownTo (such as Google Firebase), when required by law, or when necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users or the service. Service providers that process user information on our behalf are required to protect it consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Location information
DownTo does not collect or track your live device location. If you choose a location while creating a Move, that location is shared with the participants of the activity so they know where it will take place.
Notifications
If you enable notifications, DownTo may send push notifications for invitations, messages, activity updates, reminders, and other service-related events. You can manage notification preferences through in-app settings.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide DownTo, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our policies, and maintain the security of the service. Reports, moderation records, and associated content or account information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate safety concerns, document enforcement decisions, prevent repeat abuse, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed for these purposes, subject to applicable law.
Your choices
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account by contacting us, and you may withdraw any optional consent through the relevant in-app setting or by contacting us. Some information, including moderation and safety records, may be retained when reasonably necessary for legal, security, enforcement, or operational purposes.
Children's privacy
DownTo is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can investigate and remove the information where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page along with the updated effective date.
